Celtech are inspired by the music of the Celtic nations which they use as a vehicle to deliver a dynamic fusion of contemporary and world dance rhythms. They draw heavily on dub and electronica, creating a soundscape which embraces both tradition and innovation. Combining drums, bass, guitar, traditional folk instruments, vocals and sequencing, their music celebrates the evolution of roots music in this era of cultural cross pollination. Celtech are an exciting new arrival on the Celtic fusion scene.
Celtech was started in August 2008 by multi-instrumentalist brothers Ed and James (aka Sonny) Davidson who operate as the band’s rhythm section in their liveshows. They were soon joined by several formidable Celtic and World musicians: Daygan Robinson (mandolin), Instrument Maker Jonathan Shorland (flute, whistle, pastoral oboe, bagpipes) and Sille Ilves from Estonia (fiddle, hurdygurdy, vocals). All the members are recording artists who have toured internationally. Their debut gig on the 29th January 2010 was a sell out.
